OptiStem is one of five distinct but overlapping EU-funded research consortia that are collaborating on a series of meetings for young scientists. This TOPEA group (TOPEA: Transeuro, Optistem, Plasticise, Endostem, Angioscaff) held its first congress for Young Scientists working in regenerative medicine, stem cell research and degenerative diseases at the Biomedical Research Park in Barcelona from 30th June to 2nd July 2010.

Organized by the UPF (Cell Biology Group) at the Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), this meeting focused on laying the foundation for future collaboration and networking amongst Young Scientists from leading laboratories and companies in Europe.

Over 50 Young Scientists attended the meeting, including four OptiStem members. The event created an international opportunity to catalyze and nurture collaborative development among the next generation of leading researchers.
