The Barrandon group is studying stem cell potency in the skin and related stratified epithelia. They are interested in why appendages such as hair follicles and sweat glands do not regenerate in patients transplanted with skin stem cells. The lab is also involved in cell and gene therapy, mainly for skin disorders.
