Margaret Buckingham

Professor Buckingham's lab studies the formation of skeletal muscle. Their work focuses on the genes that regulate the entry of cells into the myogenic programme. Manipulation of these genes in the mouse gives new insight into their role in the specification, proliferation and survival of skeletal muscle stem cells. Using genetic markers, the group isolates such cells and examines their therapeutic potential.
